LG Announces 8.3-inch G Pad Tablet

LG Electronics introduced its first tablet with a high-resolution screen, joining global world trying to take on Apple's dominance in the popular small-sized tablet market.G Pad Android tablet will hit store shelves in South Korea next week and in more markets before the end of the year.

LG’s Android powered tablet, the G Pad will hit stores in South Korea on October 14. The device is priced at 5,50,000 WON ($510 approx. which translates to Rs. 32,000 approx.). The tablet will be launched in 30 countries spanning North America, Europe, Latin American, Asian, CIS and Africa before the end of 2013. There is no specific information available on when the tablet will be launched in India.

The tablet has an 8.3-inch display with a 1920x1200 pixels resolution. LG claims that this is the first 8-inch tablet with a full HD display. Under the hood, the tablet has a Snapdragon 600 chipset with a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.7GHz coupled with an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The tablet also comes with 16GB built-in storage.
